Samuel Rutherford said: "My relationship with Jesus is like that of a sick person to a physician, of whom I am in great need." We, as Christians, should likewise admit to our unfaithfulness while the Lord is faithful. We should acknowledge backsliding while our Lord remains steadfast and never gives up on us—even when we are rebellious, ungrateful, and sometimes wander off the path of righteousness or give in to unrighteous thoughts.
We must admit sinful nature always war against our spirit which desires to do the things of heaven and recognize our need for a cure by our lord, Jesus Christ. We need to live our lives through Him, for His blood washes us clean of our transgressions and sins, which are more numerous than the hairs on our heads. (Psalm 40:12)
Jesus is our Lord and Savior who loves us so much that He gave up His life so that our transgressions and sins could be forgiven, and we could be reconnected with our Savior now and forever.
As Paul wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
As a branch abides in the vine, we need to abide in Christ and let his words abide in us. As it is written our saviour stands at the door of every believer “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
(Revelation 3:20)
He is our Heavenly Friend and Savior who sees us as we are—with all our flaws and sins—but He does not see us merely as we are now. He sees us as we will be when He finishes His work in us at His second coming.
So we pray that we continue to stand firm in faith believing in him and standing firm on every word of God daily “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in us beleivers will carry it on to completion on the day of Christ Jesus second coming.” (Philippians 1:6)
