Do not merely read the scriptures and fail to put them into practice each day; that would render your reading meaningless. A person who puts God’s word into practice is like someone who builds a house on a rock. When the storms of life come against the house, it stands firmly and unshakable because it is built on the rock. Christ is our rock, redeemer, and God. Living our lives through Him means we remain unmoved and unshakable, no matter what life throws at us. As believers, we are not to be like a man who looks in the mirror and then forgets how he looks. Instead, we are called to meditate on God’s word day and night, like a tree planted by streams of water with roots that extend to the streams.

God’s word has been written for us to encourage and teach us perseverance when faced with life’s difficulties, trials, suffering, and pain. We continue to put our trust in God, believing and trusting that God’s abiding word and promises will never fail. As it is written, 'Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away' (Matthew 24:35). God’s word and purpose will prevail over everything in the end. God’s will shall be done in the universe He created at His command. 'For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven' (Ecclesiastes 3:1). God has made everything beautiful in its time and set eternity in the hearts of men. We continue to put our hope in His living, powerful word.

As it is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God' (Matthew 4:4)."
