God will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your heart as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow deeper into God’s love and become stronger daily. In God’s kingdom, everything starts as a mustard seed—the tiniest of seeds—and grows through small steps, increasing gradually and surely. It becomes stronger and stronger, just like the kingdom of heaven, until it becomes a giant tree where all the birds can perch (Matthew 13:31-32).

Bring all the bad roots—such as insecurities, feelings of unworthiness, anger, past mistakes, painful experiences, and rejections—into the open. With God’s help, He will prune the bad parts of the roots so that your entire root system becomes healthy. Plants thrive when the whole root is healthy. If any part of the root is bad or infested, it needs tender care and love to remove the bad roots and replant them in new soil. This is what the Father does as the gardener. He prunes all the bad parts of the branches, and we, as branches in Christ, are pruned so that we may bear more fruit and be more effective for the kingdom of God (John 15:1-2).

We live by the Spirit, not by the flesh. As the body of Christ, we are no longer flesh, for the Lord is Spirit, and His children are spirit. We live through Christ, our Savior, who dwells in our hearts and has made us right with the Father forever (Romans 8:9-10). We are connected forever, and the gates of hell cannot prevail against us as children of God. We are called to one body, one baptism, one Lord, and one living God, the Father, who is over all, through all, and in all (Ephesians 4:4-6).
