As Paul wrote, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:1)We are called as God’s dearly loved children to follow the example of Christ, our Lord, who, for the joy set before Him, humbled Himself on the cross and resisted the devil to the point of shedding His blood. (Hebrews 12:2, Philippians 2:8)
Christ has shown us the way through His example of humility. He told His disciples that whoever wants to be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven must be a servant of all, serving others rather than seeking to be served. He instructed them not to lord authority over others but to be an example through their actions, behavior, and attitude. (Matthew 23:11-12, Mark 10:43-45)
We are all called, first and foremost, to have a humble and contrite heart, recognizing that all have sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard and that by His wounds, we are healed. (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:5)
As it is written, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) He raised us to new life in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:4-5)
Therefore, let us humble ourselves under God's mighty hand, knowing that He will lift us up in due time. For God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5:6-7, James 4:6)
We are all sinners saved by grace. Through faith in Christ our Lord, we have received the free gift of salvation and the Holy Spirit, who helps us in our weaknesses. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 8:26)
So today, let us throw off every burden that weighs us down and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us take up our cross daily and follow Christ's example of humility and obedience. (Hebrews 12:1, Luke 9:23) Let us seek to do God’s will rather than our own, walking in His ways of light, life, and peace.
As it is written, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him, and He will direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Let us submit to one another, clothe ourselves with humility, and praise the Lord God Almighty, our Creator and Savior for all his marvelous works for the children of men for Majesty and splendor go before Him, and glory and strength dwell in His sanctuary. (Psalm 96:6)
