When you are stressed and overwhelmed, your life is in ruins because you have made the wrong decision out of fear. How do you get out of the rot?

David was in a similar situation when Saul attacked him. He said to himself that he would go and hide in the land of Philistia. However, this was the wrong decision because he did not enquire from God or seek wise advice from wise counselors. Palestine did not trust David and ended up sending him away. He ended up being rejected and unable to go back home. "There is a way that seems right but in the end leads to death" Proverbs 14.12

What lessons can we learn from David's mistake? David had nowhere to go, and his life was in ruins due to decisions made out of fear rather than enquiring from God or seeking God's direction in the decisions he made. After his life was in ruins and he was left alone and not knowing what else to do or where to go, David found strength in the Lord.

When we are overwhelmed and stressed, and in a pit due to mistakes or wrong decisions, we make due to fear rather than seeking God's direction. Amidst the ruins of our lives, we should, like David, find strength in the Lord. "The Lord gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak ." Isaiah 40.29

We should also always seek wise counselors when we are making decisions. Even when we feel that I the last thing we want to do, getting advice from the right source always work out best in the end and guard against making wrong decisions by relying on our limited knowledge and understanding.

We should never forget God's word. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your understanding. Acknowledge the Lord in all your ways; he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3, 5-6. "Whoever walks in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom would be delivered." Proverbs 28, 26
