As dearly loved children of God, we have God’s sevenfold Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, godliness and fear of the lord; to guide, correct, strengthen, encourage, and exhort us at all times—if we slow down amidst the chaos, noise, and ever-changing variables around us that can distract us from hearing His still, small voice. God speaks to us through His Holy Spirit, who communicates directly with our spirit (Isaiah 11:2; 1 Kings 19:12).
The Holy Spirit is the wisdom, power, might, authority, and splendor of God, the third person of the Holy Trinity, alongside God the Father and His Son. As our Lord promised, if we believe in Him, we will have “streams of living water flowing from within” (John 7:38).As it is written, "I will pour out water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground" (Isaiah 44:3).
If we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, in His death and resurrection, then we have the Holy Spirit within us. Through the Holy Spirit, we have God’s power, might, wisdom, splendor, and authority to do His will and fulfill His higher purpose for our lives, with the guidance of His Spirit (Romans 8:11, Acts 1:8).
We should take time to be still, resting in God’s secure and safe presence, and listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to our hearts and spirit. In doing so, we can gain understanding and wisdom to “number our days,” discerning God’s unique assignment for each of us (Psalm 90:12).
We are called to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and live our lives righteously with the help of his holy spirit as he supplies us with all we need; knowing that our heavenly Father, who is generous, knows exactly what we need. As we submit to His guidance, we receive the wisdom to navigate the trials, challenges, and tests of our faith that we face each day as His beloved chosen children, saved by grace to the praise of his glory (Matthew 6:33; Ephesians 2:8-9).
