"Think carefully before speaking, for as Christ our Lord warned us, we should be cautious about what comes out of our mouths, as we will all give an account for every idle word we speak (Matthew 12:36). Words matter.

As the Bible teaches, the tongue, though small, can be a reckless evil if not disciplined and controlled. It's like a small fire that can burn down an entire forest. I've learned this through personal experience, where I often spoke without thinking and caused trouble in my personal relationships. Later, filled with regret, I realized my part in contributing to the strife that followed. Instead of using gentle, soft words, I let my emotions take control and replied in anger, igniting unnecessary conflicts that I could have avoided with kind, soft words that can diffuse anger and wrath.

We need to think carefully before we speak because rash words, spoken without thought, can harm others and ourselves. Proverbs 13:3 wisely advises, 'Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin' (Proverbs 13:3, NIV).

An unknown poet said, 'Be careful of your words; keep them soft and sweet. You will never know which one of your words you'll have to eat by the end of the day.'Thinking before speaking keeps you safe and reduces the trouble you may cause yourself. A person who says little and keeps silent is often considered wise. Those who talk too much may display folly. Remember to 'be slow to speak' as a mark of wisdom (James 1:19)."
