The entire Gospel—the good news of salvation—is built on the foundation of God's immense love for mankind, His creation.

As it is written:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).God is love. Jesus Christ died for us out of love—while we were still sinners, rebellious against His Word of truth, and enemies of God in our minds, gratifying the desires of the flesh (Romans 5:8).

Out of His love, He came into the world as the Light of the World so that we might no longer live in darkness or ignorance of the Father’s love or His sovereign power over the heavens and the earth, which He created (John 8:12).

When we love others as ourselves, God abides in us, and His love is made perfect in us (1 John 4:12).When we are merciful as He is merciful to us—sinners saved by grace—we reflect His love. As it is written:
"Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen" (1 John 4:20).

All who hate or practice wickedness show they do not know God, for God is love (1 John 4:7-8). His love is:

  • Kind and patient,
  • Not self-seeking,
  • Not boastful or proud,
  • Always faithful and full of hope,
  • Infinitely patient and enduring (1 Corinthians

God’s love longs for everyone to come to the knowledge of His truth and be set free from the traps of the evil one, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed(John 8:36).

So today, as long as it is called "today," let us pray that the Holy Spirit, the witness of God’s truth within us, empowers us to fullfill the two greatest commandments:

  1. To love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength.
  2. To love our neighbours as ourselves, just as Christ, our Lord, loved us by laying down His life and giving us the free gift of eternal life through faith in Him (Matthew 22:37-40).
