We have been given the power to take captive every thought and lead it in obedience to Christ, our Lord, who lives in us.
As written in the Scriptures: " Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you." Luke 10:19
"Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" 1 John 4:4
God has granted us, as believers who put our faith in Christ, the authority to overcome the power of the evil one. He promises that no harm will come against His chosen children who walk in obedience to His will and commands.
We have also been given spiritual weapons to fight the spiritual battle we face daily as children of God. For," Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12, NIV)
The battlefield of this spiritual war is in our minds. It is essential to examine our thoughts, take captive any negative thoughts or arguments that war against the truth of God's Word, and make them obedient to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:5, NIV)
We can achieve this by reading and meditating on God’s Word daily and praying without ceasing. As we do this, we can measure every thought against God’s truth and replace negative thoughts with those that are pure, noble, excellent, praiseworthy, and good.
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." (Philippians 4:8, NIV)
Stand firmly on God’s Word each day and believe in His promises. As the psalmist declares, there are countless reasons to trust in God:
"Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits." (Psalm 103:1-2, NIV)
All things are possible for those who believe and do not doubt.
"Everything is possible for one who believes." (Mark 9:23, NIV)
Wait patiently for the Lord as you take steps of faith each day, trusting in Him.
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." (Psalm 27:14, NIV)
